Name: Buffalo Stampede Half-Marathon &5K
Date: October 4, 2014
Time: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Runners will be stampeding their way through Bryan/College Station, Texas on October 4th at 7:30am as the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History hosts its 6th annual Buffalo Stampede! This year's race is even better than past stampedes and continues our HALF-MARATHON. Athletes will have the opportunity to show off their skills by running 21,100 meters (a half-marathon) or 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). The course begins at the Museum, is USATF certified and the races are timed with Chrono Track System disposable bib tags to allow for accurate timing of all our runners. All Sports Timing is conducting the race and race results will be available at www.allsportstiming.com. The Half-Marathon course is gently rolling, scenic, relatively flat, fast, and takes you through open country and past neighborhoods and parks. It has a downhill 2-mile finish, and offers runners a great chance for a personal record and a tune-up for marathons. The 5K follows the first 1.55 miles of the Half-Marathon course. Courses are out and back and offer a safe route well marked by N-Line Traffic Management. These beautiful courses and well-organized runs come with water stops, port-a-johns, great running music provided by DJ Stevo, cool T-shirts for all, unique buffalo age group awards, and post-race refreshments. You will have a chance to meet our celebrity starter and pose with our Bison mascot! AFTER the race, enjoy Boonville Days, Brazos County's ONLY living history fair of frontier skills demonstrations, re-enactors, art, and music. This year, we have expanded our booths and our Chuck-Wagon Cook-off! Fun for the entire family, festive Boonville Days activities are inside and outside the Museum. Runners registration includes free admission to the Museum! Runners' packets and late registration will be available on Thursday, October 2nd, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, October 3th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Museum. Packets may also be picked up on race day beginning at 6:00 am. Race Day registrations will be accepted from 6:00-7:00 am, but prior registration is STRONGLY encouraged.
