Date: October 4, 2016
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Join us this election season as we host attorney, historian and author Talmage Boston. In his latest book, “Cross-Examining History: A Lawyer Gets Answers From the Experts About Our Presidents,” Boston seeks to find out what it was that made our presidents tick and what caused their historic lives to play out as they did. He interviewed presidential insiders to gain insights about America’s past. In the process, he developed what he calls the Ten Commandments for Presidential Leadership. It is his hope that attendees can then use this knowledge to make more informed decisions as they go to the ballot box this November. By using examples past presidents, Boston will demonstrate the most important aspects of leadership ability that we must expect from future leaders of the United States. Talmage Boston has practiced law as a commercial trial and appellate litigator in Dallas since 1978. He has been recognize in Texas Monthly as a “Texas Super Lawyer” every year since 2003. He has also been recognized among the “Best Lawyers in America” and “Top 100 Attorneys in Dallas/Fort Worth Region.” As an author, he has written books about the role lawyers play in society and books on baseball history, along with several articles and editorials for legal journals and mainstream media. In recent years, he has become one of the best known onstage public interviewers in Dallas, conducting interviews with the likes of Henry Kissinger, James A. Baker III, David McCullough, Jon Meacham, Ken Burns and Douglas Brinkley. Following Mr. Boston’s talk, we will have a reception in the rotunda, where you will have an opportunity to purchase his newest book and have it signed. The event is free, but seating is limited and reservations are highly recommended.
