In conjunction with our current special exhibit, “Driven to Drive: Defining Our Identity,” our final movie in the 2016 Summer Film Series will be “Turbo.” Turbo (Ryan Reynolds) is a speed-obsessed snail with an unusual dream of becoming the world’s greatest racer. After a freak accident infuses him with the power of super-speed, Turbo kicks into overdrive and embarks on an extraordinary journey to achieve the seemingly impossible: competing in the world’s fastest race, the Indianapolis 500. With the help of his tricked-out streetwise snail crew, Turbo becomes the ultimate underdog and puts his heart and shell on the line to prove that no dream is too big, and no dreamer too small. Join us as the voices behind the characters, including Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Samuel L. Jackson, and Maya Rudolph, bring this film to life. Released by DreamWorks in 2013, “Turbo” is 96 minutes long and is rated PG. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs as we enjoy this film under the stars by the presidential pond. Games and free refreshments will begin at 7 p.m., and the movie will start just after sundown. You may bring your coolers, but please no pets or glass containers.
