Texas Myotonic Show Down

Name: Texas Myotonic Show Down
Date: May 3, 2019
Event Description:
Come and see the famous Tennessee Fainting Goats, talk to breeders and see our show. Free. Fainting goats are an American landrace breed that was recently removed from the American Livestock Breed Conservancy’s threatened list. While the Tennessee Fainters are still on “watch status” the western myotonics are even more rare. Saved by forward-thinking ranchers like Boone Heap who traveled to Tennessee in the early 20th century and brought back myotonics, these goats were able to adapt to the rugged Texas landscape. They hold important genetics for sheer grit – the willingness to fight off predators, their high mothering skills, the tolerance of parasites and heavy muscling – all characteristics that Boer, Kiko and other commercial goat breeders value. See what the buzz is all about!
