Winedale Online Talk: German Dance Halls

Casey Jordan, Executive Director, Texas Dance Hall Preservation, Inc. “Two Step Your Way Through Time and Discover Texas history in our Historic Dance Halls” Texas dance halls are as diverse Texas itself, and can be found throughout the state. The story of Texas is embedded in the floors, walls, music and people found in these unique and iconic buildings. Texas once had 1000 dance halls; today only 400 remain, almost half of which were built by German immigrants. We will go over a brief history of German dance halls, and take a look at photos of some that remain.
