Officials Recognized at Washington County Day at the Capitol

February 27, 2019
On February 26, as important bills and budget issues were being discussed at the State Capitol, the focus that afternoon changed to salad dressing and ice cream.

This year’s Washington County Day at the Capitol, organized by the Washington County Chamber, invited several hundred state lawmakers and their staff to enjoy ice cream and Briannas, generously provided by Blue Bell Creameries and Del Sol Food Company in the prestigious setting of the Lt. Governor’s Reception Room. Brenham National Bank was also a sponsor of the day’s events.

To begin the day, a resolution was read on the House floor by Representative Ben Leman, as local officials were introduced. Present were Washington County Judge John Durrenberger, Brenham Mayor Milton Tate, Burton Mayor David Zajicek, Blinn College District Chairman of the Board Charles Moser and Washington County Chamber Chairman of the Board Amanda Stolz. Citizens then made their way to the Senate Gallery where State Senator Lois Kolkhorst announced a resolution and shared the history and many features and virtues of Washington County.
