On Thursday, March 4, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn on Occupational Health, Safety and Human Resources: Responding to COVID-19. The event will be held in the Community Room at Citizens State Bank in Brenham.
Key points that will be discussed at this luncheon are:
Review of the current response to COVID, including the vaccine and protective measures
How the response has evolved on both the state and national level, with discussion on the impacts it has on employers and employees
Business Continuity Planning and how this can help a business survive everything from a pandemic to a fire or weather incident
A review of current CDC guidance
Discussion of OSHA’s involvement in the past and the direction it is headed under the new administration. This will include discussion of the Executive Orders issued by President Biden and the response from OSHA.
Employer responsibilities, liabilities and compliance issues related to COVID-19
How to create a safe work environment for guests and employees
Policies and procedures to manage COVID Positive employees and exposures
OSHA certified outreach trainer, Chris Kehl, will be the guest presenter. Shay Morrow, Human Resource Manager at QuestSpecialty Corporation, will also be on hand for questions.
Christian Kehl is an experienced professional in the areas of Health and Safety, specifically OSHA compliance issues. Chris is an OSHA certified outreach trainer and has conducted numerous OSHA trainings across Texas for business and industry. He has also instructed at the Brayton Fireman Training Center in College Station and was the Safety Instructor for Blinn College’s Technical Education Programs. When not providing training, Chris has provided COVID consultation and management services for critical infrastructure facilities throughout Texas in partnership with an Industrial Emergency Services business.
Chris also has over 25 years of experience in Fire and Emergency Services, serving in positions from firefighter to Chief Officer, with an emphasis on firefighter health and safety as well as incident management. He has responded to incidents on the local, state and national levels and was one of the founders of and first Team Leader for the Brazos Valley Incident Management Team. Chris is one of appx. 3000 individuals recognized internationally as a Fire Protection Specialist by the National Fire Protection Association.
Currently, Chris is the Director of Safety and Emergency Response for Brenham based Brannon Industrial Group where he led the company’s response to the hurricanes that impacted the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas in 2020.
The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. and will end with a Q&A session just before 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Chamber Members and $20 for non-Members.
