September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September 01, 2016
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and represents an annual opportunity for supporters nationwide to focus on and raise awareness of the challenges of childhood cancer.  Adam’s Angels Ministry is a local charitable organization which supports families who face childhood cancer.
Adams’ Angels Ministry was founded in 2004 out of a deep understanding and compassion for families battling childhood cancer by providing care and comfort through physical, emotional, financial and spiritual support.  The Board of Directors consist of Lauren Eckermann Turnbill, President, Tim Culliver, Founder/1st Vice President, Debbie Fathauer, 2nd Vice President, Donna Culliver, Founder/Secretary, James Fritz, Treasurer, Eshanna Hemphill, Assistant Secretary, Alesia Whaley, Board Member/Fundraising Chair, Jackie Anderson, Board Member and Dr. Gregg Workman, Advisory Board.

In recognition of September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the City Council on behalf of the City of Brenham, the County Commissioners Court on behalf of Washington County and Lois Kolkhorst on behalf of the State of Texas will declare, through proclamation, September 2016 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Thus, joining with Adam’s Angels and all the children and families touched by childhood cancer to raise awareness of the challenges of childhood cancer and encourage funding to be dedicated to finding a cure and help defeat this terrible disease.

Nationally, Adam’s Angels Ministry advocates for childhood cancer by participating in the Annual Childhood Cancer Summit in Washington D. C., which includes the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus.  Co-Chairs Congressman Michael McCaul and Chris Van Hollen introduced the Bipartisan Childhood Cancer STAR Act in 2015 to improve efforts to identify and track childhood cancer incidences, improve the quality of life for childhood cancer survivors, ensure publically accessible expanded access policies that provide hope for patience that have run out of options and identify opportunities to expand the research of therapeutics necessary to treat the 15,780 children diagnosed with cancer in the U. S. every year.

In addition to September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Adam’s Angels Board of Director’s invites you to participate in their Drive-Thru Chicken Dinner Fundraiser, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Bush’s Chicken, 2749 Hwy. 36 S, Brenham, Texas.  Tickets are $10.00 each and include a 3 pc.
