Young Professionals Participate in Earth Day Clean-up

April 23, 2018
On April 22, the Young Professionals of Washington County and Bellville Young Professionals Organization joined forces with some Master Naturalists to celebrate Earth Day and helped to Keep Washington County Beautiful.  The crew cleaned up 1500-2000 pounds of debris (mostly limbs and tree debris) out of East Mill Creek. This debris was not allowing the creek to flow correctly, which in turn, causes higher levels of bacteria in the water, mosquitoes to breed, and flooding to occur higher up river. Seeds were also spread by a local group so that more natural plants and grasses will grow in the area. Thanks to all who assisted including H-E-B (for water & snacks) and Mike Hopkins Distributing (for shirts, gloves and Volunteer Appreciation at Smitty's afterwards!). Remember to always do your part to Keep Texas Beautiful.  Learn more at www.KWCBtexas.com.
